The form and functionality of the new Campagnolo 12-speed EPS Ergopower hydraulic disc brake controls are the result of meticulous studies carried out to guarantee the most efficient and effective ergonomics possible.
The updated brake lever shape with its new 12-speed design is the outcome of thorough studies on hand ergonomics carried out at the Campy Tech Lab to ensure that, together with the downshift lever positioning, the cyclist has an intuitive, practical and comfortable “control centre”. Ergopower Super Record EPS DB controls incorporate the AMS (Adjustable Modulation System), which allows for desired mode configuration and reach adjustment to position the brake lever at an optimal distance from the handlebar. Multishifting technology, i.e. the option to shift multiple sprockets in a single shift, is now applied to all 12-speed cassettes. Cyclists can use the MyCampy app to customize the new Super Record EPS groupset for upshifting or downshifting a maximum of 11 sprockets with a simple click. Developed anew thanks to the close collaboration between Campy Tech Lab and Campagnolo-sponsored professional cyclists, Multi-Dome technology has achieved the perfect balance between the force used and tactile feedback, enabling cyclists to feel when a gear shifts. The Ergopower control also offers the cyclist full control over drivetrain operation thanks to the MODE button (located immediately behind the downshift lever on both the right and left controls). The MODE button enables the cyclist to check battery charge, make precise gear or derailleur adjustments (even while pedaling) and perform any kind of diagnostic check.
Campagnolo flat-mount brake calipers ensure powerful, modular braking in any situation thanks to 22-millimeter diameter pistons. Pad return is now optimized to ensure no friction when the brake lever is released. A special metal plate placed between the pad and the caliper piston dampens vibrations during braking. The different Campagnolo brake calipers have been designed to be assembled along with the rotor chosen by the rider and always guarantee the highest level of performance. In fact, it is possible to choose the brake caliper with a 140 mm (limited to riders not exceeding 82 kg) or 160 mm diameter rotor. Special attention has been paid to making maintenance and assembly operations easy: the pads feature wear indicators, and their replacement is facilitated by the absence of physical return springs. Furthermore, work was done on rotor insertion into the caliper to make wheel changes easier and faster.
Campagnolo has always pioneered innovation for racing bike drivetrains and is now continuing its research with the aim of constantly improving the cycling experience. The Super Record electronic groupset, considered a benchmark for its performance and reliability, is now available in a 12-speed version. The groupset has been redesigned to perfectly adapt to the new 12-speed technological frontier and to the 11-29 and 11-32 cassette combinations introduced only a few months prior in the mechanical version. Fast, always precise and effortless shifts for the cyclist, and a very gradual gear ratio are just some of the extraordinary characteristics of the new EPS groupset, whose performance is guaranteed by the proven Campagnolo disc brake system and AMS (Adjustable Modulation System) and Reach adjustment management options. The new options now also include an internal version in addition to the usual externally mounted interface, thus ensuring maximum integration into handlebars and frames designed for this application.
FEATURES
-
Comfortable support The controls offer a good and secure grip when standing pedalling or when leaning high on the handlebar
-
Quick shift When the chain immediately engages, the derailleurs can be operated with minimal effort and in any position on the handlebar
-
Multi-shift An unexpected climb, a sudden sprint: finding the right combination instantly takes no time at all thanks to the multi-action of the command
-
Ergonomics The shape of the damping and the adjustable reach make these controls perfect for any cyclist, regardless of hand or finger size
-
Standard flat mount Fully compatible with flat mount frames
-
22mm pistons in phenolic resin Braking force and thermal insulation
-
Piston-caliper connector The return action of the pistons is now optimised, quickly returning the pads to their position and thus ensuring a total clearance between pad and disc of 0.4-0.8 mm, with no risk of accidental contact
-
Interchangeable spare parts: pads, cylinder, screws, bolts (same for all calipers) Fully compatible and optimised spare parts, making maintenance practical and reducing the number of components to keep in stock
-
Wear indicator It's very easy to see when the pads need to be replaced
-
Rounded brake pads These make disc insertion easier and speed up wheel changes
-
Anti-vibration plate Optimal braking without vibration
-
Two fixing screws Quick installation and maintenance
